Biography

Robert Casas Roig茅 completed his Ph.D. in Iberian and Latin American Cultures at Stanford University, specializing in cinema, politics and cultural studies of contemporary Spain. 

His work focuses on Spanish documentaries that critically rethink the Spanish Transition (1975-1982) by revealing underlying power dynamics from Franco鈥檚 dictatorship in current Spanish democracy. He is currently working on the publication of his manuscript "Justo el documental: excepcionalidad democr谩tica y reparaci贸n en la no-ficci贸n audiovisual espa帽ola contempor谩nea."

At 91视频专区, he has taught a variety of courses on the cinema, literature and cultures of Spain, as well as introductory, intermediate and advanced Spanish language classes. 

His areas of interest, explored both in publications and invited talks, include Spanish film and photography; Spanish and Catalan second language teaching; sites of memory in contemporary Spain; the intersections between journalism, literature, and politics; Disability Studies; Gardens as a political-literary space; and cultural representations of Barcelona.
