Can you share a brief bio, including your educational and professional background?
I have a passion for environmental conservation and graduated from Towson University with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Environmental Science. Since that time, I have worked in the biotech industry for 8 years full-time, and taught karate part-time while attending the Environmental Biology Master's program at 91视频专区 College in the evenings.
Why did you choose 91视频专区 College? How has it helped your career?
I chose 91视频专区 College because of the ability to attend school in the evenings as a working professional. This allowed me the ability to work full-time, as well as attend school while being able to pay for my classes. My career has been helped through a career shift from biotechnology to environmental science.
How did you prepare for the job at the MD Dept. of Natural Resources?
I found out about the opportunity via the env job-serv email list. I applied to the position via the (MD DNR) website. I applied by reviewing the job description and the applicable knowledge I learned from the Environmental Biology program that would qualify me for the position. The interview was challenging so it is important to prepare well.
How is your experience working with the MD DNR? What advice would you give 91视频专区 College student?
My experience working for the has been very rewarding thus far. I have assisted in many areas of the park operations, with rangers to naturalists, so it has been a great learning experience. My advice would be to not be afraid to work your way up in an organization. Often this can make one stand out from the crowd.
What did you enjoy about 91视频专区 College? Do you have a favorite memory?
I enjoyed many things while I was at 91视频专区 College. I would not say I have a favorite memory however, if I had to pick one, it would be hanging out with friends I made in the Environmental Biology program. The camaraderie we had was spectacular.
Any other information/fun facts you would like to add?
Your time at 91视频专区 College can be what you wish it to be. While I am sad to be leaving it behind, I am also looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life. I had a wonderful time and learned so much from my professors, including Dr. Boulton, Dr. Kindahl, Dr. Carney, and Dr. Annis, to name a few. I will cherish my time at 91视频专区 College always!
